Dear friends, I wish you all a very happy 2025, may you receive all that you need and desire, that does not yet seem possible to you! To everyone who has supported my efforts and read my books, my small offerings in the world, I send my grateful thanks.
This morning I got up at 05.30 to make coffee before giving my husband a lift to work. When I went out to de-ice and warm up the car, the frost and ice were sparkling like stars that had fallen to Earth and lay, still shining, on the ground. This brought to mind Ted Hughes Poem,’ The Horses’ (https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/161873/the-horses). The last line has always struck me: ‘Hearing the horizons endure’. Like all words, they are open to personal interpretation.
My ‘enduring horizon’ is marked out by the shadows of treetops, the horizon of Hainault Forest; ever present and ever changing with the seasons. This morning as I stepped outside, in the sky above my horizon, I could see Jupiter and Mars, Orion’s Belt, Aldebaran, the Pleiades, The Plough and many other objects in a velvet, dark blue sky. This view of the Cosmos in which I live never fails to fill me with awe and wonder.
My internal horizon speaks to me of what has been forgotten but what our distant ancestors knew well: my horizon, our horizon, is vast. We, along with all life on our planet, are part of an immense Cosmos that turns and moves around us and us with it; a dance, a harmony in which all have their notes to sing, marking out cycles and rhythms which we can observe and measure but retain their majesty and mystery – at least to me! At some point this century, the Sun will rise due East at the vernal equinox against the backdrop of the constellation Aquarius, marking a new horizon, a new age for all of us as the constellation of Pices falls behind.
It is my hope that this will mark a return to seeing ourselves as part of Creation, not separate or just passing through as this vast Cosmology includes all of us in the same miraculous expression of Life.

TIME AFTER TIME UPDATE: Time After Time is still proceeding, slowly! It has become an eye-watering onion, revealing ever more layers and is tricky to peel. I have given up on predicting a date and time for its publication. Perhaps this year.
NEW BOOK UPDATE: LAND, SEA AND SKY: This is something I have just started writing and will be a companion to The Bloodsong Series. I did not intended to write such a book, in fact it seemed a little like hubris! But the idea surfaced during a Dare To Blossom programme with Mary Lunnen (https://www.daretoblossom.co.uk) and again during the Muse Intensive facilitated by Francesca Cassini through The Silver Tent (https://www.thesilvertent.com). It will be a mixture of fiction – a mythology of the People of the Horse, their stories and lore which did not find their way into The Moon Queen – and an offering of wisdom that arose from researching and writing the Bloodsong Series, along with many long years of Spiritual seeking and exploration. Again, I have no date in mind for this but I suspect it will be available before Time After Time.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge the deep gratitude I owe to Cheryl, whom I first met in October 2010. She became a dear friend and an everlasting source of help and encouragement. She understands and continually champions my ambition; to share my love of Creation through storytelling. It is entirely due to a recent conversation with Cheryl that I have the gumption (and presumption!) to write Land, Sea and Sky. Thank you dear Soul.
