Author Susan Latchford

Throughout my life, Dad shared with me his fascination, wonder and love of the natural world. In doing so, he awoke that same passion in me, to the extent that I went on to study Environmental Policy and work in associated fields for many years. We also shared an interest in reading, particularly science fiction and fantasy. Years of reading the same books and sharing our opinions fuelled my interest in ancient history, archaeology, mythology and spirituality.

Years later, in 2016, I experienced a health crisis shortly after my Mum died. I wanted to understand and process those events; the result of that was a trilogy, The Bloodsong Series, which drew on all I had learned and experienced in my life so far. The urge to write and create has not been quelled and I’m now working on my next project. I live opposite Hainault Forest, in the rolling countryside of Essex, with my husband and cat all of which are daily inspirations.

The Bloodsong Series

I chose to publish the Bloodsong Series under my mother’s maiden name to honour her and because, through many frank conversations we shared, I got the impression she wished to have done more, experienced more. By using her maiden name, she joined me on this adventure.
